CHISPAY TOLOP KHANG, known as CT’Kids (City Kids), is a FREE LIBRARY for the kids living in the semi-urban region of Choglamsar, the place is 8 km away from Ladakh’s capital: Leh.
The main goal of our organization is to make
Chispay Tolop Khang a place for kids to explore their land, as the whole world, through books and literature. A place of reading and knowledge. A place of fulfilment and valorisation. A place to explore one’s hidden talents and skills while enhancing their self-esteem and self-confidence. A place to re-connect Ladakhi children with their traditional roots and culture.
A place of respect and listening to all without distinction. A place free of any injustice. A place which is completely secular. A place free of discrimination on any bases. A place that welcomes every single human present wholeheartedly.
CHISPAY TOLOP KHANG believes that
CHILDREN DON’T CHOOSE THEIR SOCIAL, ECONOMIC, AND ENVIRONMENTAL BACKGROUND, BUT ONLY THEY CAN DECIDE THEIR FUTURE
ONLY WE CAN GUIDE THEM ON THE BEST PATH.
THERE ARE NO KIDS WHO ARE BORN A DELINQUENT,
IT IS THEIR SOCIAL SURROUNDING THAT SHAPES THEM
IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO OFFER THEM THE BEST ENVIRONMENT TO GROW AND FLOURISH.
Why in the suburbs area?
We noticed that, in a suburban area, kids are more vulnerable to addictions and bad practices. We usually think living in an urban society, children are more privileged as they have easy access to all the basic facilities such as education, medical, and modern comfort. But every coin has two sides, here the other side lies the disadvantage of staying in cities. By easy access, we mean that children are exposed to so many things which include drugs, certain crimes, and other bad influences. Also, another big disadvantage is that they are completely missed out on nature, environment, while leaving in unsafe place of traffic, buildings, and pollution. And more often they are unaware of their rich culture, traditions, and practices as they inherit more of the roots of modernization. As the outer space in urban region are more dangerous for a child’s mind, parents usually prefer to keep their children under the four walls of house. Which eventually increase the screen timings, boredom and unproductive times.

INTERACTIVE LIBRARY:
our Library is open 2 hours per day with a librarian and volunteers who work hard to make reading lot more fun and active through workshops and discussions.

SOCIAL SPRINGBOARD
hands in hands with professional and existing organizations we want to be a platform to guide and accompany the families in the social and medical support labyrinths.
Our aim is to offer all social and medical advises and accompaniment available at one place, in order to simplify the procedures. To offer services in our cosy and informal place, to make it less stressful and less worrying, more approachable. With the hope it will encourage people to start the needed process.
